Today, I had to do my laundry for the first time [here]. The laundry machines all require an app, and I was hoping to find an alternative method, but none exist. I eventually caved and installed the app on my phone, and it didn't work! It requires Google Play services, and won't even let me try anything without giving an error and closing. Aside from not wanting Google Play services, I am unable to install them on my devices! I have tried. I tried installing Waydroid on my computer and installed Play Services with that, but it still gave the same error anyway. Eventually I decided to go to a laundromat instead. I got on a bus to take me to where I parked my car, but the bus did not take me there, and instead happened to take me right next to the laundromat, just by chance? I still barely understand the busses. So at the laundromat, I realised I forgot my detergent, but it was fine because they sold some there. It was only $1.00 for a load so IDRC. The wash though was over $7 and I had to do two loads, so in total I almost spent $20 washing my laundry, which IMO is ridiculous! There was a nice lady there with her dog, she kept apologising for her dog but it was literally doing nothing. She is a science teacher, went to UCSD. We had a conversation about college majors and what jobs you do with CS. I ended up spending probably 3 hours going out to the laundromat, waiting for my clothes, and getting back, all when it could have taken 15ish minutes of my time if I could do my laundry here, because I could have done something else in the meantime, but I think it is good for me to have the experience of going to a laundromat. I had never done that before. I came back and went to [C9] for food and made a panini. I'm getting more comfortable navigating food here and am starting to experiment with making different types of things, I made a panini for the first time! They also had mushroom patties for burgers and I have been craving mushrooms for the past two weeks so I was very excited! (bagel setting on the toasters sucks for bagels but is amazing for burger buns) They also had coffee ice cream (!) Great with butterfingers candy topping, I was gonna save it to put in my fridge but ate it on the way back :sob:
overall I would rate today a 9/10. Contained a good combo of character building and fun
